Flood-prone Gloucestershire road needs barriers, councilor says

Flood-prone Gloucestershire road needs barriers, councilor says

“A barrier system seems like a simple and cost-effective measure that would relieve pressure on rescue services and our police,” Thomas said.

A county council spokesman said closing the road during flooding would block emergency access.

“Putting a barrier on a public road has wider implications and also prevents access for emergency services,” a spokesperson said.

“We are confident that the traffic management measures currently in place make it clear that residents should not use the lane when there is flooding.

“We are happy to support any work the councilor is doing with her local community and the police, to communicate concerns and reinforce the road closures that have been put in place.”
