Wisconsin was without starting point guard Max Klesmit against Minnesota. Their usual 30+ minute match was split between Kamari McGee, Jack Janicki and Markus Ilver. Gard dropped deeper into the bench, something he is not often forced to do, and continued to show the impressive depth of the team.

McGee was fantastic in Klesmit’s usual starting role, totaling 15 points, five rebounds and three assists on 5-of-10 shooting. Transfer forward Xavier Amos provided a major boost in the first half, finishing the game with four points, three rebounds, one assist and two steals. Ilver showed off his shooting range in limited minutes, adding six points and two rebounds on 2-of-3 from deep.

Overall, Wisconsin received solid contributions from almost every player off the bench. With Klesmit gone, everyone else stepped up big.

Previous Wisconsin teams have had great difficulty when a key starter misses time. This team seems well prepared to deal with injuries and absences. Gard has done an excellent job creating and developing an extensive list of contributors.
