Speed ​​was a factor in Penns Valley Pike crash that seriously injured Spring Mills woman

Center County State Police are providing more details about what caused a single-vehicle crash along Penns Valley Pike Thursday night.

Troopers say the driver of a Nissan pickup truck, identified as a 36-year-old Spring Mills woman, was seriously injured when she lost control on Route 45 and went airborne.

Investigators say the pickup truck was traveling east at a high rate of speed when the driver crossed into the opposite lane and then left the road.

Police say the driver crashed into a cattle fence, continued across a field and then went airborne near the Gregg Township-Potter Township line.

Investigators say the truck rolled several times and ejected the driver.

Police observed that the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time.

Authorities say she was flown to UPMC Williamsport for treatment of serious injuries and her current condition is unknown at this time.

The accident remains under investigation.

Authorities say a woman was flown to a hospital Thursday night after crashing in a field near the Gregg Township-Potter Township line in Center County.

According to Center Hall Fire Chief Brian Tice, first responders were called to the scene of a pickup truck that had rolled over and crashed on the side of the 3400 block of Penns Valley Pike, in a nearby field.

WJAC’s crew at the scene said a witness saw the woman violently ejected from the vehicle after it had been thrown several feet into the air.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident.

The woman’s health status is unknown at this time.
