Maliq Brown out due to injury

Brown is a solid player for Duke, but the team may only go as far as the freshman phenom. Cooper Flag will take them.

Duke head coach Jon Scheyer Now he’s campaigning to crown Flagg the best player in the country. He admits there is some bias in his statement, but points out how easy the game is for the true freshman. His numbers may not be too flashy, but Scheyer is confident in how Duke plays when Flagg is out there.

“I know I’m biased or whatever, but if we’re not talking about him as one of the best, he does have a chance to be the best player in the country. For me he is the best player,” Scheyer. saying after Tuesday’s victory Pitt. “I think it’s been shown by who we’ve played with, the competition. The fact that he does it in such a mature way, he doesn’t chase numbers. He just puts up numbers because the game comes to him, he plays it the right way.

“So I think we need to make sure we talk about him that way. He has proven it to me and he has to continue proving it. But for me, when we step on the field, we have the best player in the country. That’s a big problem.”
