Long Island Father Sentenced for 13-Year Sexual Abuse of His 3 Young Children

A Long Island man has been sentenced to 32 to 57 years in prison for He sexually abused three of his young children over a 13-year period, prosecutors announced Friday.

The 68-year-old Selden man, whose name has not been released to protect the identity of the victims, subjected three of his children to “continuous sexual abuse” between 1997 and 2010, the Suffolk County District Attorney said. Raymond A. Tierney, in a press release.

The three children, who were between 7 and 13 years old when the abuse began, did not report the incidents to authorities for fear of being separated from family and siblings, according to Tierney.

They only contacted authorities when the three victims became adults.

On November 25, 2024, a jury found the accused guilty of three first degree charges course of sexual conduct against a child and one count of first-degree sexual abuse.

Earlier this week, Suffolk County District Court Judge Karen M. Wilutis sentenced the defendant to 32 to 57 years in prison, prosecutors said. You must also register as a sex offender.

“It is unconscionable for a father to subject his own children to years of such egregious acts of sexual violence,” Tierney said Saturday in a statement. “Our hearts go out to the victims for their bravery in moving forward after everything they endured.”
