Murder charge laid in Saddle Lake Cree Nation killing

Police have filed murder charges in the killing of a Saddle Lake Cree Nation man on Wednesday.

Officers found Garvin Lloyd Chisan, 61, seriously injured at a home in Saddle Lake Cree Nation after they were called there for reports of a stabbing.

Chisan was taken by air ambulance to an Edmonton hospital, but died later that day.

RCMP said 44-year-old Saddle Lake Cree Nation resident Jeremy Shaun Cardinal was arrested Friday.

He has been charged with first degree murder.

The cardinal was taken into custody. He is expected to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Lac la Biche on Tuesday.
