Ohio State Buckeyes’ Jack Sawyer Gets Bold Opinion From Draft Expert

He Ohio State Buckeyes achieved a great 28-14 victory over the Texas Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl. Jack Sawyer was a big part of the reason they were able to win the game and advance to the national championship.

Sawyer made one of the biggest plays in Ohio State football history.

Late in the fourth quarter, with the game on the line, Sawyer forced a sack on Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers. Not only did he force the fumble and get the sack, he picked up the ball and returned it 83 yards for a touchdown that put the game on ice.

No Buckeyes fan will ever forget that play. He will be remembered as long as Ohio State football exists.

After that play, Sawyer’s name has become much more recognizable. He was already projected as a possible first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but had begun to project further into the second round.

Whether or not his heroic play against the Longhorns will help him move up the draft rankings remains to be seen. However, one NFL Draft expert has made a bold statement about the Buckeyes’ star defender.

ESPN Matt Miller He is a big fan of Sawyer. He believes NFL teams are going to “fall in love” with him throughout the NFL Draft process.

“I had the opportunity to talk to Jack Sawyer at Ohio State’s Pro Day last year. He personifies Buckeye football. You see it with his effort on every play. Coaches will love him when they get involved in draft preparation” Miller wrote.

During the 2024 college football season, Sawyer has put up big numbers. He has racked up 56 total tackles, along with nine sacks, three forced fumbles, one interception, two defensive touchdowns and six passes defensed.

There are very few players in college football who have had a greater impact on their team than Sawyer.

Not only has he put up great numbers, but he has shown incredible leadership. Sawyer has been the undisputed leader of Ohio State’s defense. That will also be a huge advantage for him throughout the draft process.

All that being said, Sawyer did himself a big favor when it comes to his future in the NFL. That said, right now he’s just focused on winning a national championship for the Buckeyes.
