Derrick Henry on Lamar Jackson: I arrived as a teammate and found a brother

The Ravens came up short in Sunday’s divisional round matchup against the Bills. But Baltimore accomplished a lot in the 2024 season, the team’s first year with a backfield duo of quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry.

After the game, Henry praised Jackson as a player, teammate and leader.

“I came in as a teammate and found a brother,” Henry said, via a team transcript. “Lamar is what keeps this team going, and he’s the reason we still had a chance, so I’d say the same thing to him: Keep your head up. He’s a Hall of Fame player, he had a great season.

“It’s a team effort. We fell short together. It doesn’t depend on him. Forget what anyone else outside of what we’re going through says. “We believe in him and we will always be behind him.”

Henry, who turned 31 earlier this month, had one of his best seasons in 2024, recording 1,921 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns in the regular season. He also had 19 receptions for 193 yards with two touchdowns.

Henry is under contract through 2025 after signing a two-year, $16 million deal with Baltimore last March.
