Two children seriously injured after being hit by a car

Two children were seriously injured after being hit by a car in Penicuik on Sunday afternoon.

The 11-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl were walking with a 12-year-old girl about 3.20pm when they collided with a Volkswagen T-Cross on the city’s Bog Road.

Both the 11-year-old and 13-year-old were taken to the Royal Hospital for Children in Edinburgh, where medical staff confirmed their injuries were serious, while the 12-year-old was unharmed.

Police Scotland said it was working to “establish the full circumstances of this collision”.
