Great shock after a fighter plane crashed a few meters from her house | United Kingdom | News

Deborah Colman was left terrified when a pylon, used to mount items such as missiles or fuel tanks, fell off a Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft over Haisthorpe, East Yorks.

The plane had taken off from RAF Coningsby, about 66 miles away, on January 17. The air force launched an investigation into the incident.

Deborah said: “It’s absolutely terrifying. If it had been a few hundred meters towards us it could have hit the house or killed someone, or landed on the main road opposite.”

He also mentioned the train line that runs a little further from the town and the potential danger if the object had hit it. After hearing a ‘loud bang’, Deborah and her husband Shaun went to investigate the crash site where they found the metal object surrounded by a small crater in the field, guarded by a police officer.

Deborah, who took a photo with her phone, said: “The policeman said ‘you all need to stay away from this’. He was constantly on the radio saying ‘they say it might contain chemicals’.” or something like that.”

Later that night, Shaun saw lights in the field as “men in uniform” removed the object.

Deborah added: “I don’t know if they would have kept it a secret and not said anything if no one had seen it. Things like that need to be out in the open, right? Because it’s worrying.”

An RAF spokesman said: “On Friday 17 January, a typhoon pylon broke loose and landed in open ground.

“The RAF has recovered the equipment and is investigating the cause of its detachment from the aircraft.”
